Look, we know cleaning isn’t typically the most fun you can have on a day off. We accept that, but as a company based within the cleaning industry, we have picked up a few tricks to make the cleaning process feel a little more fun (and a little less like a chore). Here are five exciting ideas for how to make cleaning fun and help your home sparkle with joy.
1. Dance while you clean
It’s an age-old tactic. Snow White’s dwarves whistled while they worked (even Grumpy!). Playing some music and dancing up a storm while you clean up a storm is one of the best ways to feel like time is flying while the cleaning gets done. Dancing and cleaning - it’s a definite mood boost, even if you might not think so before you get started.
2. Create a reward system
Incentivise yourself to clean with a reward system. For every task completed, treat yourself to something small, like a piece of chocolate, a short break to cuddle with your pet, or a few minutes on social media (but be sure to set an alarm for when it’s time to start cleaning again so you don’t get pulled into doom scrolling for hours).
3. Get the whole family involved
Much like anything else, cleaning can be more enjoyable when it's a team effort. Get your family (or housemates) involved and assign different tasks to each person. This not only speeds up the process but also makes it a bonding activity.
4. Turn chores into games
Make cleaning a fun challenge by turning it into a game. You can time yourself to see how fast you can clean a room or compete with family members to see who can clean their area the fastest. This works particularly well if you’re hoping to get younger kids involved.
5. Use environmentally friendly cleaning products that smell nice
Scented cleaning products can make the entire cleaning experience (and post-cleaning vibes) much more pleasant. Choose nice-smelling cleaning products with fragrances you love, like lavender, orange, or lemongrass, to leave your home smelling fresh and invigorating.
